Meet our Associate Client Services Engineer - Akash Patel!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your role at REGnosys
I joined REGnosys as a Client Services Engineer, where my primary role is to support clients on their CDM and DRR journeys using the Rosetta platform. This includes modelling sophisticated regulatory logic, helping clients integrate Rosetta into their internal systems, and enabling them to contribute to industry-wide standards.
I hold a degree in Mathematics from the University of Sussex, where I developed a passion for solving complex problems, particularly those without a single right answer. This analytical mindset aligns well with the dynamic and evolving nature of the work we do at REGnosys.
Outside of work, I’m an avid artist, working across both physical and digital mediums. I enjoy bringing a creative approach to problem-solving, whether through my art or in my professional life.
What do you see as your main priority in your role?
My main priority is to ensure that clients can effectively leverage DRR and CDM to meet their specific regulatory and operational needs. This includes helping them maintain and evolve their own custom models, as well as supporting their contribution to the continuous improvement of the open-source CDM, something that benefits not just individual firms but the industry as a whole.
Our clients are at different stages of their CDM journey, some just getting started, while others are refining production-ready models. Being involved across this entire spectrum allows me to identify where I can provide the most value, whether that’s through technical support, model development, or strategic guidance. I find it incredibly rewarding to work closely with clients and help them navigate this evolving space.
Why did you choose to work at REGnosys?
Having worked in the regulatory reporting space for several years, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges that come with traditional, often siloed and opaque RegTech solutions. When I came across the DRR initiative and the CDM framework, it immediately stood out as an innovative and much-needed shift in how the industry approaches regulatory compliance.
What really attracted me to REGnosys was its commitment to open-source collaboration. It enables a level of transparency and cooperation that the sector has long been missing — moving regulatory reporting beyond a box-ticking exercise and into something that can genuinely add value for firms and the wider market. REGnosys has positioned itself as a leader in this forward-thinking space, which made it a natural fit for me.
On top of that, the opportunity to help build out the Client Services team was a key factor. It gave me the chance to not only apply my prior experience but also to work more closely with clients, gaining a broader and deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities across the industry.
A message to your younger self: tips for success in the industry
Don’t be afraid to ask the “stupid” questions, they’re often the ones that lead to the most valuable insights. The sooner you realise that no one has all the answers, the more confident you’ll become in learning and contributing.
Mistakes will happen, and that’s okay. What matters is taking accountability, understanding why they happened and using those moments as opportunities to grow.
Finally, don’t get too attached to the status quo. Just because something has always been done a certain way doesn’t mean that’s the best way. Stay curious, challenge assumptions, and always look for better, smarter solutions.
